Ski Cervinia 25

(7 nights)

Skiing under the Matterhorn - Italian slopes at thier finest.

As one of Europe’s highest ski resorts, great snow conditions and an impressive glacier come as standard. What truly makes this resort stand out is the towering site of the Matterhorn and just how close it is. That mixed with the rest of the incredible surrounding landscape and you have yourself the perfect setting for what is simply an amazing ski resort.

Cervinia is known for its extensive ski area and as you head up the mountain to the high peaks of the Plateau Rosa you will appreciate the impressive lift system which connects you to Valtournenche as well as the famous Swiss resort of Zermatt. Almost an endless network of runs means there is plenty of variety and places to explore as well as some superb off-piste runs. Being based on the Italian side of the mountain definitely has its benefits, what with great food, service full of Italian flair and let’s not forget it’s a lot cheaper than over the border with our Swiss friends. With an International ski pass you have the best of both worlds, so definitely worth it if you want to get the miles in and explore the full area.

Along the font of the slopes you will find plenty of bars overlooking the piste, many serving lunch with an epic view of the Matterhorn. Later in the day the music is turned up and you have a great range of après bars to choose from. Further into town along the traffic free cobbled streets you'll find plenty of shops to browse as well as some great hidden little pizzerias, perfect if you want a slice for lunch.

In and around the resort there's a massive selection of things to do. Rev up the engine and have a go at ice karting, take to the skies and feel the adrenaline of tandem paragliding, have a dip in the local pool or visit the highest ice grotto in Europe over on the Swiss side of the mountains – whatever you're after and whatever the age range, there's something for everyone in this authentic Italian resort.

Ratings taken from Inghams website

Beginners skiing in Cervinia

Start on the village nursery slopes using the baby lift then progress to the Cretaz lifts. After a few days you will be taken up to Plan Maison; lots of easy blues up there and blue 5 back to resort is long and easy.

Intermediates skiing in Cervinia

Intermediates will enjoy Cervinia's long and open sunny runs, many of which continue uninterrupted for miles. The run down from Plateau Rosa, 10 km in length, is exhilarating without being difficult. Stop off at one of the good mountain restaurants en route to admire the spectacular views. And don't miss the exciting 22 km descent from Plateau Rosa to Valtournenche.

Advanced skiing in Cervinia

Nothing too testing but the skiing over to Zermatt (International lift pass required) is more advanced. The selection of black runs provide some challenging descents.

Snowboarding in Cervinia

Snowboarders will find the wide open pistes ideal as most of the runs can be reached without using draglifts. There is one of the highest snow parks in Europe (2800m) with separate sections for beginners and more expert boarders.

Cervinia is linked to Zermatt in Switzerland

Travel & Stay

Cervinia 25

The Breuil hotel is one of Cervinia's iconic hotels and with its stunning location right on the slopes in the centre of the resort, it is always a popular choice. The hotel team really make the holiday experience special and are always happy to help. It's located right by the piste and in the centre of town - getting on the mountain couldn't be easier with the Cretaz chairlift just behind the hotel. It links up to the main ski area, saving you the seven minute walk to the main Plan Maison cable car.

Cervinio Views - The restaurant looks out of the nursery slope area so you can enjoy great views of the mountains while you eat.

The spacious bar lounge area is a great spot for a post-piste prosecco, or whatever you fancy.

The rooms are comfortable and some have spectacular views of the Cervinio/Matterhorn. You'll love using the spa facilities here after skiing. There's a fitness room and sauna (payable locally).

Passport validity

For UK passport holders your passport must be:

  • Issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

You must check your passport meets these requirements before you travel. If your passport was issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added to its expiry date.

ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System)

The rules of travel to most European countries have changed. Starting in the first half of 2025 UK citizens are required to have a travel authorisation to enter 30 European countries for a short stay.

ETIAS travel authorisation is an entry requirement for visa-exempt nationals travelling to a number of European countries. It is linked to a traveller’s passport. It is valid for up to three years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. If you get a new passport, you need to get a new ETIAS travel authorisation.

With a valid ETIAS travel authorisation, you can enter the territory of these European countries as often as you want for short-term stays - normally for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. However, it does not guarantee entry. When you arrive, a border guard will ask to see your passport (and other documents if required) and verify that you meet the entry conditions.

NB - There is no official date for the ETIAS currently confirmed but when it is introduced it will be your responsibility to ensure that you have arranged this. We will update everyone when the ETIAS is required with information on how to apply for this online.

Travel Insurance

Please ensure that you have adequate personal travel insurance to suit your requirements in place before you travel. Spice Escapes have arranged a scheme with Staysure who are fully authorised and regulated by the FCA (firm reference number 663617) full details of which can be found on the FCA website www.fca.org.uk. For an instant online quotation please click here.

Global Health Insurance Card

A UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) gives you the right to access state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in the European Union (EU).

UK-issued European Health Insurance Cards (EHICs) are still valid and offer the same cover as GHICs in the EU.

Once your EHIC has expired, you’ll be able to replace it with a GHIC.

NB – A GHIC/EHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance!
