Location & Itinerary

Mountain Facts

Les Deux Alpes boasts an expansive ski domain spread across two primary peaks, encompassing a total of 220km of diverse slopes. The majority of these runs are situated at high altitudes, including a glacier, ensuring consistently favorable snow conditions. Additionally, many beginner-friendly trails are conveniently located at the mountain's summit, offering less experienced skiers the opportunity to enjoy excellent snow quality and breathtaking panoramic views. The destination is particularly favored by experts for its outstanding off-piste options.

For Beginners:

Novice skiers can find designated areas near the town center, along with gentle green slopes accessible via the Oeufs Blancs gondola. The Crêtes lift provides a pleasant introduction to longer green runs, featuring an open top section and a tree-lined descent. After a day of skiing, the 5km-long green home run offers a scenic journey back to the town.

For Intermediates:

Intermediate skiers can explore a variety of enjoyable blue and red runs on the glacier at 3,400m, offering a gentler terrain compared to the valley slopes. With runs snaking across the entire ski area, visitors can spend their days traversing greens, blues, and reds from top to bottom.

For Advanced Skiers:

The resort caters to advanced skiers with extensive off-piste opportunities, along with the renowned black runs of nearby Alpe d’Huez. A visit to the entirely off-piste area of La Grave, accessible through a guided day trip with the European Ski School, is highly recommended.

Snowboarding:

For snowboarders, beginners can start on the greens at resort level and Oeufs Blancs, while freestylers can explore the snow park at Toura, featuring various exciting features. Blue and red runs high up on the glacier offer an exhilarating experience for those looking to pick up the pace on the piste.

Glacier Skiing:

The Glacier du Mont de Lans provides less challenging skiing at altitudes of up to 3,570m, dominated by accessible blue runs. However, there is also access to the off-piste area of La Grave. T-bars facilitate access to the glacier.

Off-piste Adventures:

Les Deux Alpes offers a vast selection of advanced off-piste terrain in Saint Christophe and La Grave. The latter, connected to Les Deux Alpes from the peak of the glacier, provides an untamed ski area with minimal infrastructure, making it perfect for challenging freeskiing. The Grand Couloir chutes, with three short and steep options, conclude underneath the Bellecombes chairlift, providing an exciting off-piste experience.

Passport validity

For UK passport holders your passport must be:

  • Issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

You must check your passport meets these requirements before you travel. If your passport was issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added to its expiry date.

ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System)

The rules of travel to most European countries have changed. Starting in the first half of 2025 UK citizens are required to have a travel authorisation to enter 30 European countries for a short stay.

ETIAS travel authorisation is an entry requirement for visa-exempt nationals travelling to a number of European countries. It is linked to a traveller’s passport. It is valid for up to three years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. If you get a new passport, you need to get a new ETIAS travel authorisation.

With a valid ETIAS travel authorisation, you can enter the territory of these European countries as often as you want for short-term stays - normally for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. However, it does not guarantee entry. When you arrive, a border guard will ask to see your passport (and other documents if required) and verify that you meet the entry conditions.

NB - There is no official date for the ETIAS currently confirmed but when it is introduced it will be your responsibility to ensure that you have arranged this. We will update everyone when the ETIAS is required with information on how to apply for this online.
