This resort is ideal for anyone who try skiing for the first time, beginner skiers who want to get a bit more experience, intermediate skiers looking to hone their current skills and anyone who wants to visit a very social resort (lots of après ski not far from the hotel!). Soldeu is a wonderfully lively ski resort village, very popular with skiers for its relaxed ambience. Skiing in Soldeu gives you access to a large resort, spread out over 4 kilometres and split into four distinct areas. All are connected by a regular bus service. Choose from El Tarter, Incles, Bordes d'Envalira and Soldeu village itself. Skiing in Soldeu is made easy with state of the art gondola lifts departing from Soldeu village or El Tarter. These days the resorts excellent lift network links Soldeu with nearby Pas de la Casa and with Grau Roig on the Grand Valira. All this is included on your whole area lift pass, making skiing in Soldeu an extra-exciting experience for intermediate and advanced skiers!

Skiing in Soldeu delivers fantastic facilities both on and off the slopes. As well as excellent skiing in Andorra's delightful mountains you'll also discover a wide and exciting choice of busy bars, vibrant clubs and great restaurants.

Beginners skiing in Soldeu

The excellent ski school is renowned for teaching beginners, and links to the British Association of Ski Instructors ensures most of the staff speak English.

Intermediates skiing in Soldeu

An excellent selection of blue and red runs covering almost 190kms of pistes throughout the largest linked ski area in Andorra.

Advanced skiing in Soldeu

Good off-piste potential and 10 black runs complement the cruising red runs that allow you to cover the impressive terrain easily, and really get miles under your belt.

Spice Escapes Skiing Ability Scale

Level 1~10 - Soldeu is a great resort for all levels of skier, however thos of a high level may nat find the area challenging enough

1) First time skier, totally new to the sport (Beginner)

2) Second week skier OR has had lessons at snow dome and/or dry ski slopes (Beginner Plus)

3) Skied a few weeks and happy on green and blue runs (Lower Intermediate)

4) Skiing parallel on blues and starting to tackle reds (Intermediate)

5) Okay on reds and starting to tackle blacks (Upper Intermediate)

6) Can get down blacks, but struggles on bumps (Lower Advanced)

7) Happy on most groomed blacks and easy bumps, but finds steep bumps and off piste tricky (Advanced)

8) Can ski all bar steepest bumps and ski off piste with style except with deep powder and in poor snow conditions (Upper Advanced)

9) No problems: can ski everywhere in all manner of snow conditions (Expert)

10) Professional skier, instructor, freerider etc

Snowboarding - Mayrhofen offers some great opportunities and a number of fun parks.

 

While this scale can be used to assist in your selection of resort it should be noted that all ski areas have ski schools that will be able to cater for all levels of skier in group lessons from beginner through to intermediate.

If you are more advanced and really want to hone your skills you may want to consider one to one lessons.

Travel & Stay

Hotel Himalaia is in an excellent location in the centre of the village close to the main ski gondola, just a 2 minute walk away! Soldeu's bars, shops and cafés on your doorstep while the nearest bus stop is only 20m away! The tasteful rooms and apartments offer excellent value with modern comforts.

The comfortable facilities on offer inside the Hotel Himalaia start with an attractive lounge and popular bar and an internet corner. A sauna, jacuzzi, steam and fitness room are also available free of charge. All rooms come with a bath with shower, telephone, satellite TV, safe, hairdryer and a minibar. NB – rooms vary in size, outlook and facilities and allocation of rooms is on a pot luck basis.
