Overview

It may be tiny, but the 'small but perfectly formed' picture-postcard village of St Christoph, cocooned in a spectacular open snow-bowl, is part of Austria’s No. 1 world-class ski area. At 1800m, it’s 500m higher than neighbouring St. Anton, and is perfectly positioned in the centre of the huge Arlberg ski area, giving easy access to the other villages. St. Christoph enjoys an excellent snow record and as you can see from our main photo above, the pretty, traditional village itself nestles in a picturesque setting, with a blue run down from the Galzig peak running right back to our Chalet Hotel’s ski-room door. Skiers who lunch seriously and can afford it should visit the legendary Hospiz Hotel restaurant or its cheaper neighbour the Hospiz-Alm.

With the new Flexenbahn link opening last winter, all resorts in the Arlberg ski area - St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs, Lech, Oberlech, as well as Ströcken and Warth are easily and comfortably accessible on skis without the need of a bus making this the largest interconnected ski area in Austria.

If you are looking for the confidence of a high altitude, snow-sure resort, on one of the world’s Top Ten ski areas, with the convenience of skiing to and from your own ski room door, then you have come to the right place.

Beginners

The beginner’s nursery slope is located directly outside the St. Christoph Chalet Hotel. No lift pass is required for the drag lift here. Recommended runs in nearby St Anton: blue 31. Also blue 23 and 24 and the Mulden drag lift for blue 27. Find more beginner blues at the Nassereinbahn drag lift or Kindlisfeld drag lift.

Intermediates

St Christoph is good for intermediate skiers and boarders. There is a vast amount of red and blue runs which you can find at the Galzig and Stuben areas. Red 85 into blue 100 is the longest run in the area, however there is no flat section which can make it difficult to board. Red 144 in Zurs is good for intermediate skiers and has a flat bit which is good for boarders and provides great views from the top. Blue 64 to St Christoph is also good. Blue 63 is good for guests in St Christoph who want to ease in to their skiing at the start of the week.

Advanced

In nearby St. Anton there are good blacks by the Kapall, black 42 is the 2003 women’s world cup downhill run. Itinerary run from Valluga – a guide is needed for this. Stuben has a lot of red runs. Sonnenkopf is good for advanced and can be accessed by bus.

Snowboarding & Snowparks

Blue 100 is great for snowboarders because it’s the longest run.

Snowparks are located:

Rendl park – located on Blue 9

Galzig – located on Blue 63

Sonnenkopf – located on Blue 1

Lech – located on Blue 201

Warth – located on Blue 266

Travel & Stay

Chalet Hotel St Christoph

The location is simply unbeatable. The Maiensee button lift starts just outside the ski room door, or take the 2-minute walk to the St. Christophbahn covered quad chairlift, which takes you straight up into the heart of the St. Anton side of the mighty Arlberg ski area. If you fancy the spectacular slopes of Lech and Zürs for a change, and the wonderful ‘White Ring’ circuit for a great day out, the ski bus stops 50m from the hotel. Beginners and families are downright spoiled, with the ski school meeting place and nursery slopes immediately alongside the hotel.

The comfortable facilities on offer inside the Chalet Hotel start with a welcoming lobby and reception area, connecting through to the excellent value residents-only bar and comfy lounge. The attractive dining room sets the scene for our Chalet Hotel dining, and there are sauna and a large indoor swimming pool with mountain views and relaxing loungers on which to unwind after a great day’s skiing. Well-appointed bedrooms, many with interconnecting doors, complete the picture for a thoroughly comfortable stay.
