Ski Mayrhofen
We head to Mayrhofen and the Zillertal ski areas.
Ski Mayrhofen and experience one of Austria's best known and loved resorts. With a pretty pedestrianised centre, extensive snow-sure skiing and lively apres-ski, ski holidays in Mayrhofen offer something for everyone. Lying at the end of the Ziller Valley, the Zillertal Superskipass covers the whole of the Ziller Valley, including the resorts of Fügen, Kaltenbach, Zell am Ziller, Gerlos, Finkenberg, Lanersbach and the glacier at Hintertux, an incredible total of over 650km of pistes and 172 lifts connected by a free bus or train. Adventurous skiers love skiing holidays in Mayrhofen because of the resort's extensive off-piste and the 22km of hair raising black runs. These include the steepest run in Austria, the infamous Hara Kiri. If you're in the market for a 78% gradient and high adrenaline skiing - ski Mayrhofen! Mayrhofen apres-ski is great too.

Spice Escapes Skiing Ability Scale
Level 1~2 - Mayrhofen has very good ski schools but the resort is better suited to intermediate to advanced skiers.
1) First time skier, totally new to the sport (Beginner)
2) Second week skier OR has had lessons at snow dome and/or dry ski slopes (Beginner Plus)
3) Skied a few weeks and happy on green and blue runs (Lower Intermediate)
4) Skiing parallel on blues and starting to tackle reds (Intermediate)
5) Okay on reds and starting to tackle blacks (Upper Intermediate)
6) Can get down blacks, but struggles on bumps (Lower Advanced)
7) Happy on most groomed blacks and easy bumps, but finds steep bumps and off piste tricky (Advanced)
8) Can ski all bar steepest bumps and ski off piste with style except with deep powder and in poor snow conditions (Upper Advanced)
9) No problems: can ski everywhere in all manner of snow conditions (Expert)
10) Professional skier, instructor, freerider etc
While this scale can be used to assist in your selection of resort it should be noted that all ski areas have ski schools that will be able to cater for all levels of skier in group lessons from beginner through to intermediate. If you are more advanced and really want to hone your skills you may want to consider one to one lessons.
Travel & Stay
Surrounded by the beautiful background of the Zillertal Alps, you'll find the Posthotel Mayrhofen offers not just a pleasant, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, but also typical Zillertal hospitality. In the early 18th century, Mayrhofen had a 'postal forwarding office', which was housed in the Gasthof zur Post (now the Posthotel Mayrhofen). The postal forwarding office was then moved and became a post office. The inn was in the hands of the Lackners for many generations; but towards the end of the 19th century, the records show the family line ran out, and the Dengg family moved in.
Since early 2014, the former "Postschlössl" has been taken over and modernised and now offers a spa and wellness area.
Accommodation for this trip is in twin rooms (traditionally furnished with 2 separate beds. All rooms equipped with flat-TV, safe, quality body care products and hairdryer.
It's a 10-minute walk to the Penkenbahn Cable Car, a ski bus stop is right outside.
The evening meal is taken at the hotel Rose which is 1 min walk from from the Posthotel.
