Confused?
Recently each of the devolved governments has had its say on the ‘Road map back to normal’, which is a funny term of phrase considering we still can’t actually drive anywhere!

Anyhow, are we all clear on our way out of lockdown? As mud some may say however, I think what we can all agree on is that there is some light at the end of the tunnel and although the message is slow and steady it seems like the mood of the entire country has been lifted.

After such a difficult 12 months, the recent announcements have left me feeling really excited about a return to actual social interaction maybe even the odd hug here and there (or maybe that’s a step too far!). Personally, it’s been almost a year since I went out for a drink (alas I can’t say I’m now T-Total though) or enjoyed a dining experience where someone else cooked that wasn’t from a plastic or aluminium container.

I’m delighted to say that our loyal travellers are clearly sharing our excitement and optimism, as since the announcements we have seen a very marked increase in enquiries and bookings especially towards the summer months and onwards as confidence builds.

Given the quickly receding levels of virus and the heartening success of the vaccination programme, the first stage of the plan has started with schools returning and we are all waiting eagerly for the results hopefully not showing any significant increase in infections allowing us to have even more optimism of a summer of proper fun!

On the international holiday side things are a little unclear with Westminster saying travel restrictions will not be lifted until May 17 at the earliest and all restrictions possibly being removed by 21 June so we are remaining positive. We await the government’s Global Travel Taskforce report on the 12th April to hopefully give us all a better understanding of how the agreements the UK is making with foreign governments will allow international travel to resume safely. PCR testing and proof of vaccination (‘vaccine passports’) are likely to play a role though!

Rest assured, the Spice team is monitoring everything closely and it goes without saying that we will follow all the rules and restrictions that are in place at the time.

Over the last 12 months we haven’t sat still and twiddled our thumbs though as many will testify I’m sure with our ongoing online events programme being well received but also we are very excited to be able to announce the release new Spice Escapes holiday website that will showcase our holidays in a much more attractive and appealing way.
