Teeming with over 288 mammal species including the protected proboscis monkey and the majestic orangutans, 600 birds, 100 amphibians and almost 400 fish species, the island offers large areas of untouched rainforest where new plant species are constantly being discovered. The range of habitats is incredible, from mangroves and swamps to beaches and mountains. At an estimated 130 million years old, Borneo has the oldest rainforest in the world, a lot of which is completely untouched. You can also find the world’s biggest caves and the tallest mountain in Southeast Asia: Mount Kinabalu. Borneo has a pristine jungle-fringed coastline where you can relax on white-sand beaches and snorkel with colourful marine life.
