Location & Itinerary

Arriving in Venice you'll start your adventure in the most unique way with a water taxi transfer to the island itself. The terminal for the Alilaguna is accessible directly from the airport and it's about 80 minutes to the terminal closest to the hotel, which may sound a long time but trust us it is a very unique experience!. Full details of what to do when you arrive in Venice will be provided and if in doubt you can always wait for your coordinator to arrive and transfer with them!

There's so much to squeeze into this long weekend and we'll do as much as time permits.

One of the most famous areas of the city is the world-renowned Grand Canal thoroughfare, which was a major centre of the Renaissance. Another unmistakable area is the central square in Venice, called the Piazza San Marco. This is where you’ll find a range of Byzantine mosaics, the Campanile bell and, of course, the stunning St. Mark’s Basilica.

The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs.

We have some pre-planned optional extras available for the must see's.-

  • Legendary Venice St. Mark's Basilica with Terrace Access & Doge's Palace.
  • Venice Walking Tour and Gondola Ride.

These will be scheduled in when we know numbers so please book when you secure your place on this trip.

NB - Due to it's very nature exploring Venice does involve a reasonable amount of walking, please bear that in mind when booking and also when deciding how much luggage you may want to bring as increasing your allowance to a higher weight will involve a more difficult journey to and from your hotel!

Travel & Stay

Venice 24

Our hotel, the Don Orione Artigianelli is inside an old monastery, restored and equipped with the latest technology. The venue offers the opportunity to stay in a private and quiet place in the city centre of Venice, behind Gallerie dell’Accademia with direct overview on the Zattere quayside and on Giudecca Canal.

The entire building is based around three cloisters of 18th century and one cloister of 15th century near our Church of Santa Maria della Visitazione. Thanks to its vastness, its architecture, its gardens, its silence, our Center is an oasis inside the town: here even the rooms tell and create an atmosphere, by raising emotions.

The hotel rooms are all very bright, air-conditioned, with private bathroom equipped with shower and hairdryer, wi-fi connection, safe, direct telephone and view of our cloisters and gardens. Despite their simplicity, they have been restored and are continuously renewed respecting the ancient architecture, still aiming to offer maximum comfort. The entire complex, both inside and outside, is covered by a wi-fi network.

The service offered is that of bed and breakfast buffet set up in the large room on the ground floor and during the summer also in the adjacent courtyard of the well; it is also possible to book lunch or dinner at the San Trovaso restaurant attached to the hotel.

Accommodation on Venice Island for a group is difficult to find beyond the very expensive luxury properties on the Grand Canal. This hotel, while fairly basic offers a great location (about 20 minutes walk to St Mark's Square) at a good price from which to explore Venice.
