European city breaks for solo travellers, city by city

14 August 2025 · 3 min read

The best city breaks for solo travellers are the ones where the hard parts are done for you: the airport, the hotel, and somewhere to eat on the first night. We run 8 hosted city breaks in Europe, each a few nights long, with a named host who travels with the group. The cities are Reykjavik, Prague, Paris, Seville, Athens, Lisbon, Kraków and Berlin, and the table below sets out how each one runs.

Most people book on their own. Some book with a friend and share a twin room. Both work the same way.

Prices and dates below are live from our booking system, so they change as places sell.

How a hosted city break runs

Your host meets the group at the airport, or wherever that break begins. On most of these breaks, transfers to the hotel are included. The table for the first evening is booked before you land, and the host makes the introductions, so you are not walking into a restaurant in a strange city and asking for a table for one.

After that, the days are a mix of things the group does together and time that is yours. The host stays with the group for the whole break. If you would rather spend an afternoon in a gallery on your own, you tell the host and go.

Which city suits you

If you want most of it planned

Paris and Reykjavik have the most included. The Paris break is full board on the MS Botticelli, a river ship on the Seine, with drinks on board (premium drinks excepted), two excursions and a dinner cruise on the river, weather permitting. Iceland includes the Golden Circle tour, entry to the Blue Lagoon, a Reykjavik city tour, breakfasts and transfers.

If you want time to wander

Lisbon, Berlin, Kraków and Athens include the hotel and breakfast, with the rest left open. They suit someone who likes a group for dinner and a map for the day. Kraków and Athens include airport transfers; Berlin's flight-inclusive price includes a small cabin bag.

If you want a season

Prague Christmas Magic is timed for the Christmas markets, and its next departure is 4 Dec. Seville is most comfortable for walking in March, April and October, when the average high is between about 22 and 26°C, against about 36°C in August; its next departure is 4 Mar 2027.

Rooms and what they cost

The prices in the table are for a place in a shared twin room, and sharing costs nothing extra. If you would rather have a room to yourself, there is a single supplement, and it differs on every holiday. Our single rooms and supplements page lists each figure. Many of these breaks can be booked with flights or on your own travel, and the holiday page shows both prices.

If this would be your first trip with a group, our page for first-timers' guide answers the usual questions, and every departure is on our solo city breaks page.

If you would like to know which of these breaks suits your dates, ask the office and we will tell you what is available.
