What adventure means here

A holiday that asks something of you physically, rather than a rucksack and a night bus. On this page today that means two ski weeks — one in the Dolomites, one in the Spanish Pyrenees — a discovery trip through South Africa, and a Maldives fortnight that is half live-aboard boat and half island. The gradings run active and moderate. Active means most days keep you on your feet, or on the slopes, for a good part of the day. Moderate means a fair amount of walking, often on uneven ground, without anything sustained. Each holiday shows its grading and its day-by-day itinerary before you book. The two ski weeks assume you can already ski or board, and their lift passes and equipment hire are extra rather than in the price. What the other two cover differs — transfers, accommodation and the meals set out in each itinerary — and every holiday spells its own out. Sharing a twin with somebody of the same sex costs nothing on top of the price shown. A room to yourself carries a supplement where one is available.
