Holidays where the place is the point

These are the ones with a guide, an itinerary and things booked in advance, which is most of the reason to go this way rather than alone. Somebody else has already found out that the museum shuts on a Monday. What that looks like in practice: an expert-led battlefield tour of the Flanders region with entry to the museums along the way; the Golden Circle and the Blue Lagoon in Iceland; Lecce, Specchia, Galatina and a Puglian wine tasting over New Year; a week in Spain drawing and painting, with tuition, sketch pads and a canvas included. Three nights to ten, in Europe and beyond. The pace runs gentle to moderate: walking round a town or a site, often on uneven ground, but nothing sustained. Every holiday carries its grading and its day-by-day itinerary before you book, so you can see what any given day asks of you. Sharing a twin with another solo traveller of the same sex costs nothing on top of the price shown. A room to yourself carries a supplement where one is available, and the figure is on the holiday.
