Why choose Spice Escapes
You're travelling on your own. That's the point, not the problem.
Spice Escapes has run small group holidays for solo travellers for forty-five years. Not a singles holiday. Not a coach tour with a rep at the front. A named host, a group who mostly came the same way you did, and a room arrangement that doesn't punish you for being one person.

Who it's for
Not a singles holiday. A holiday for people who happen to be on their own.
Most people who book with us are travelling by themselves — that's normal here, not the exception. Nobody's paired off at the airport, nobody's marched to a group table if they'd rather wander off after lunch, and nobody's asked why they didn't bring someone.
The people on a Spice trip vary widely in age and reason for travelling. What they mostly have in common is that they didn't want being on their own to be the reason they didn't go.
This is not a dating or singles-events holiday, and never has been. Most people travel with us on their own — plenty are married, with a partner who'd simply rather not go — and nobody is paired off, matched or seated with anyone in particular. You travel with a group and a host; what you do with your evenings is entirely your own business.
What happens when you arrive
A person meets you, not an itinerary you're left to work out.
-
At the airport
A host is waiting for you, not a name on a list. Keeping the week running smoothly is their whole job — the hotel, the coach, and roughly how long it takes everyone to find the loos.
-
The first dinner
The table's already booked for fourteen or more, and the host knows who sat on their own the last time and doesn't let it happen twice.
-
The rest of the trip
The same host stays with the group the whole way, not just the transfer. If a plan changes or someone's had enough of walking for one day, they're the one who sorts it.
What protects your money
Nothing here runs on trust alone.
Every flight-inclusive holiday is ATOL protected. What you pay is held in a bonded trust account until you've actually travelled — it isn't spent on running the company while you're waiting to go.
- ATOL 9046 Your money and your way home are protected.
- Bonded trust account Payments held in trust until you travel.
- Never forced to share Twin share at no extra cost, or a room of your own.
- A named host With the group throughout, not just at the airport.
The hosts
15 people, not a call centre.
Every departure has one of them on it. Looking after a group is their trade — that's the qualification, not a script.

Before you book
Will I be the only one on my own?
No. Almost everyone books on their own — that is the whole point of the trip. Nobody has to pair up and nobody sits on their own at dinner unless they want to.
Do I have to share a room?
Only if you want to. Sharing a twin with another solo traveller of the same sex costs nothing extra, and it is how most people keep the price down. If you would rather have a room to yourself, you can — see the single-room price on the trip you are looking at.
Is there a single supplement?
There is a charge for a room of your own and it varies a great deal by trip, so the honest answer is the figure on the holiday you are looking at rather than an average. What there is not is any obligation to pay it: sharing a twin with another solo traveller of the same sex costs nothing extra, and it is a genuine option rather than a token one.
Every holiday with a single room available, and what each one costs, is listed on single rooms and single supplements.
How big is the group?
Small enough to learn everyone’s name in the first day or two. Group sizes vary by trip and are listed on each holiday.
What does the host actually do?
Your host is there to make your holiday feel easy, welcoming and fun. They travel with the group throughout the trip, help everyone get to know each other, keep things running smoothly and are there if you need anything along the way.
They’re not a traditional holiday rep — they’re part of the group, sharing the experience with you and helping make sure nobody feels left out.
Is my money protected?
Yes. Payments are held in a bonded trust account and the holidays are ATOL protected under licence 9046.
What age are the other travellers?
It varies by trip. Most groups span a wide range of ages with a shared interest in the destination rather than a shared birth year.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes — 18. Spice Escapes holidays are adults only.
Most people who travel with us are in their forties and beyond, but that is who books rather than a rule. There is no upper age limit, and two people travelling together do not need to be a similar age: a daughter in her thirties travelling with her mother in her sixties is an ordinary booking.
