Nestled in the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, the island of Lošinj is one of Croatia's most captivating destinations, renowned for its stunning coastline, lush pine forests, charming seaside towns, and rich maritime heritage. Over the course of eight unforgettable days, this journey offers a wonderful blend of relaxation, adventure, and cultural discovery.
From exploring the picturesque harbours of Mali Lošinj and Veli Lošinj to swimming in secluded coves, enjoying fresh Mediterranean cuisine, and experiencing breath-taking sunsets, each day reveals a new side of the island's unique character. Whether wandering scenic coastal paths, discovering local history, or simply embracing the island's tranquil atmosphere, Lošinj provides an authentic Croatian escape that leaves a lasting impression.
Croatia in May is one of the best months of the year: warm enough for outdoor life and coastal travel, but before the peak summer crowds and prices arrive!
Lošinj itself is an Adriatic island in the Kvarner Gulf of Croatia, part of the Cres–Lošinj archipelago and known as the “Island of Vitality,” it is celebrated for its lush pine forests, clean sea, and mild climate that foster a long tradition of health and spa tourism. Lošinj lies just south of the larger island of Cres, connected to it by a bridge at Osor, where the Romans once dug a canal separating the two. The island’s elongated form stretches northwest–southeast, featuring indented bays, coves, and beaches. Its subtropical–Mediterranean climate, with over 2,000 sunny hours annually, supports lush vegetation of pines, olive trees, and aromatic herbs such as rosemary and lavender. This combination of sea air and flora creates microclimates prized for respiratory therapy.
Lošinj became a seafaring centre under Venetian and later Habsburg rule. The island’s main settlements, Mali Lošinj and Veli Lošinj, feature colourful port towns with centuries-old houses and churches. Tourism dominates Lošinj’s economy, emphasizing sustainable and health-oriented experiences. The island offers spa resorts, sailing marinas, and ecotourism focused on marine life - most notably the nearby bottlenose dolphin reserve. Outdoor activities include hiking the Osoršćica trail, cycling scenic routes, and enjoying beaches such as Sunčana Uvala and Čikat Bay.

Possible itinerary for your time away
Day 1
Arrive & Settle Into Island Life The transfer from Pula is fairly long at 3 hours, however this is also part of the enjoyment for this trip as you enjoy the changes to the scenery enroute to your hotel. The transfer is also broken by a ferry crossing of approximately 40 minutes during which you can stretch your legs, have a comfort break and get some refreshments. Check into your accommodation wander to the waterfront and discover the small lanes around the old town, maybe stopping for coffee by the marina and enjoy the slower pace
Day 2
Beaches & Coastal Walks Morning - Visit to the beach: Rovenska Beach — calm and family-friendly and Punta Beach — great facilities and crystal-clear water Afternoon - Walk the lungomare coastal trail toward hidden coves. If you enjoy hiking why not continue toward Krivica Bay — one of the island’s most beautiful natural bays.
Day 3
Boat Trip & Dolphin Watching Full Day - Take a small boat excursion around the Lošinj archipelago: swimming in secluded coves, snorkelling and maybe you may be lucky enough to spot a dolphin in the waters around Lošinj which are famous for bottlenose dolphins, and the local Blue World Institute researches and protects them.
Day 4
Explore Mali Lošinj Morning - Walk or cycle to nearby Mali Lošinj (about 3km from the hotel). where you can visit the Museum of Apoxyomenos — dedicated to a remarkable ancient bronze statue recovered from the sea or wander along the colourful harbour promenade Afternoon - Continue on to Čikat Bay for a swim, maybe rent a paddleboard or kayak if you want a more active afternoon!
Day 5
Hiking & Hidden Coves Morning - Hike through pine forests toward Saint Ivan Hill where you’ll get panoramic views over the Adriatic and surrounding islands. Afternoon - Cool off in quieter coves like Balvanida and Javorna Bays which are less developed and feel wonderfully remote.
Day 6
Island-Hopping Day Grab a local ferry from Mali Lovinj and head to one of the local island (don't forget top get the last return though!). Or stay local and enjoy swimming, reading and a long lunch
Day 7
Final Slow Adriatic Day Explore Veli Lovinj a bit more with a spot of souvenir shopping.
Day 8
It's a early start as we head back to the mainland and our return flights. Quick Tip - Bring water shoes as many beaches are rocky or pebbled and if you do plan to enjoy some walking some walking shoes/boots would be a good idea for the trails.

Before you book
Will I be the only one on my own?
No. Almost everyone books on their own — that is the whole point of the trip. Nobody has to pair up and nobody sits on their own at dinner unless they want to.
Do I have to share a room?
Only if you want to. Sharing a twin with another solo traveller of the same sex costs nothing extra, and it is how most people keep the price down. If you would rather have a room to yourself, you can — see the single-room price on the trip you are looking at.
Is there a single supplement?
There is a charge for a room of your own and it varies a great deal by trip, so the honest answer is the figure on the holiday you are looking at rather than an average. What there is not is any obligation to pay it: sharing a twin with another solo traveller of the same sex costs nothing extra, and it is a genuine option rather than a token one.
Every holiday with a single room available, and what each one costs, is listed on single rooms and single supplements.
How big is the group?
Small enough to learn everyone’s name in the first day or two. Group sizes vary by trip and are listed on each holiday.
What does the host actually do?
Your host is there to make your holiday feel easy, welcoming and fun. They travel with the group throughout the trip, help everyone get to know each other, keep things running smoothly and are there if you need anything along the way.
They’re not a traditional holiday rep — they’re part of the group, sharing the experience with you and helping make sure nobody feels left out.
Is my money protected?
Yes. Payments are held in a bonded trust account and the holidays are ATOL protected under licence 9046.
What age are the other travellers?
It varies by trip. Most groups span a wide range of ages with a shared interest in the destination rather than a shared birth year.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes — 18. Spice Escapes holidays are adults only.
Most people who travel with us are in their forties and beyond, but that is who books rather than a rule. There is no upper age limit, and two people travelling together do not need to be a similar age: a daughter in her thirties travelling with her mother in her sixties is an ordinary booking.
