Holidays for Christian singles: hosted groups where your faith comes too
If you are a Christian on your own and looking for a holiday, Spice Escapes offers small hosted group holidays where you travel with around fifteen people, and some groups reach twenty, all of them booking on their own, with a host from our team who travels with you. Your faith is welcome on every one of them, and you keep the time you need for a Sunday service, a quiet prayer or a candle lit in an old church.
We should say plainly what we are and are not. Spice Escapes is not a church group or a pilgrimage company. We run mixed groups for people travelling on their own, open to everyone whatever they believe. For a person of faith that can be a good fit: good company, a host who looks after the arrangements, and nobody organising your beliefs for you.
The worries people of faith bring to us
Most of the questions we get from Christians travelling alone are not about the destination. They are about fitting in. Will I be the only one who wants to find a church on Sunday? Will the evenings all revolve around the bar? Will I feel awkward saying grace at a table of people I met that afternoon? Is this really a dating holiday dressed up as something else?
The honest answers are reassuring. Our holidays are about friendship and shared days out, not pairing people off. The evenings are sociable, and you order what you like, whether that is a glass of wine or a pot of tea. Quiet habits are your own business, and a bowed head before a meal is nobody else's concern. And because so much of each holiday is built around suggestions rather than a fixed timetable, slipping away for an hour to a service or a still corner of a cathedral is easy. The host will often help you find where and when.
If you have never been on a group holiday before, our page for first-time solo travellers walks through the first evening, the meals and how the host works. Our wider guide to solo holidays for over 50s covers the whole programme.
Prague in the run-up to Christmas, with carols in the squares
For many Christians the weeks before Christmas are the most meaningful of the year, and Prague Christmas Magic lets you spend some of them somewhere that takes the season to heart. Choirs sing carols in the squares, and the great Christmas tree in Old Town Square stands against the Gothic Týn Church. One morning is set aside for Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral, with the Lesser Town in the afternoon.
It is 3 nights in a central hotel on the Little Square, a few minutes from the market, so going back for a rest or out again for an evening service is simple. Your host is Sally Wiltshire, who is with the group for all three nights. Dates: 4 Dec 2026 – 7 Dec 2026. From £675. Places: 5 places left.

Ypres, for remembrance and giving thanks
Some holidays are not about sunshine at all. World War I, A Journey of Memory and Meaning is a short break built around time for reflection and for giving thanks to those who gave so much. For many people of faith, a trip like this means more than a week on a beach.
You travel by Eurostar from St Pancras, so there is no airport, and stay at the family-run Albion Hotel in Ypres, run by Christiane and her daughter Ruth. A local guide takes you to Tyne Cot and the trenches at Sanctuary Wood. Each evening the Last Post sounds at the Menin Gate, minutes from the hotel, and you can stand with the crowd in silence. Going in the spring gives the visit its own sense of remembrance.
Your host is Claire Dymond. It runs for 3 nights. Dates: 8 Apr 2027 – 11 Apr 2027. From £1,019. Places: 14 places left.
Malta, an island with a cathedral at its heart
If you want a proper week of rest with some meaning woven through it, Maltese Chillout is a gentle choice. The suggested day in Valletta includes St John's Co-Cathedral, home to two masterpieces by Caravaggio. Another day takes you inland to Mdina, the former capital known as the Silent City, with the historic catacombs at Rabat just outside its walls.
There is a ferry day over to Gozo and one day set aside to do nothing at all, which many people use for a long walk or a quiet morning with a book. Four evening meals are included, so you are rarely left wondering where to eat on your own. You stay at Number 11, an adults-only hotel in St Julian's with a rooftop pool terrace.
It is several nights with one of our hosts as your host. Dates: dates to be confirmed. From price on request. Places: ask us. More on the island on our Malta holidays page.
Lisbon, at your own pace, with Jerónimos waiting in Belém
A Taste of Lisbon suits someone who likes company by day and freedom in the evenings. The days are suggestions rather than a fixed programme: Alfama and Tram 28 one day, then Belém, home to the Jerónimos Monastery and the famous pastéis de nata. The evenings are yours, whether that is a quiet dinner or a livelier night out.
Airport transfers are not included, because the metro is the quickest way in and there is a stop close to the hotel. You get directions with your joining information. It is 3 nights, hosted by Pam Harte. Dates: 15 Apr 2027 – 18 Apr 2027. From £639. Places: 7 places left.
All four of these sit within our culture and discovery holidays, and three are short breaks if a week feels like a lot for a first go. For more cities, see European city breaks for solo travellers.
The room, and what it costs to have one to yourself
Every Spice Escapes holiday carries a single supplement or a cost for having a room to yourself, and we would rather you knew that up front. Our single supplement page explains how it works and what each option costs.
Questions people ask
Is there free time on Sunday mornings?
It depends on the holiday and on where Sunday falls in it. Many of our itineraries are suggestions rather than fixed plans, so a morning is often yours. Tell us when you enquire and we will tell you honestly what that Sunday looks like.
Is this a Christian holiday company?
No. Spice Escapes runs mixed hosted groups for people travelling on their own, and anyone can book. Your faith is welcome and respected, but the holidays are not built around worship.
Can the host help me find a church service?
Ask, and they will do what they can, whether that is pointing you to a church near the hotel or checking times locally. It helps to mention it when you book so the team can pass it on.
Will I be expected to drink or go out late?
Not at all. Evenings are sociable but nobody is counting what is in your glass, and plenty of people head to bed early. You can join in as much or as little as you like.
Is it a dating holiday?
No. People come for the holiday and the company, and the friendships made on a holiday often carry on at home.
Talk to us about the holiday that fits your faith and your year
The easiest next step is a conversation. Use our contact page to call or message the team and ask for Rob Thompson, who owns Spice Escapes and hosts holidays himself. Tell him what matters to you, whether that is Christmas carols, a Sunday service or a quiet place to reflect, and he will be straight about which trip suits.
