Snowboarding holidays for solo travellers: hosted weeks with parks and a group

3 October 2026 · 6 min read

Snowboarding holidays for solo travellers are easier to find than most boarders expect: Spice Escapes runs hosted ski weeks in France, Spain and Italy, and every resort on the list rates well for snowboarding and has its own snow park. You book on your own, ride on a board while others ski, and come back each evening to a host and a small group who have spent the day on the same mountain.

If you ride rather than ski, the worry is usually a particular one. Most group ski trips seem to be written for skiers, and nobody wants to be the only person in a hotel bar talking about edges and fakie. This page is for the adult who snowboards, travels alone, and wants company in the evening without a youth camp or a week of slowing down a ski group.

How a board fits into a hosted ski week

A Spice ski week is not a ski school and it is not a guided tour where everyone follows one leader down the same run. The host travels with the group, looks after the arrangements and makes sure nobody is left out, and during the day people find their own level. Some ski together, some take lessons, and riders meet up with them for lunch.

The evenings are where the group comes together. Every hotel on this page includes dinner, so there is a table to sit at and people to sit with from the first night. Groups are around fifteen people, and some reach twenty. Most people book on their own, so arriving not knowing anyone is the normal way to start. New to this? Our guide for first-time solo travellers covers the first evening and how the host makes the introductions.

You will have your own room, and there is a cost for that. Every holiday carries a room-to-yourself price, and our single supplement page explains how it works and how to keep it down.

Morzine, for the most snow parks

If the park is the point of your week, Ski Morzine is the one to look at first. Spice describes Avoriaz, across the valley, as the skiing and boarding mecca of the Portes du Soleil, with four snow parks and a snowcross course, and there are two more parks in Morzine itself. The whole area links into France and Switzerland, with long days crossing the border and riding back. Snowboarding rates four out of five here, and so does advanced terrain.

You stay at the Hotel Le Cret, a walk from the Super Morzine lift, with a pool, sauna and steam room for legs that have spent the day absorbing landings. Seven evening meals are in the hotel. It is 7 nights, departing 30 Jan 2027 – 6 Feb 2027, from £1,199, with 14 places left places left.

Baqueira, for freeride and quiet slopes

Riders who would rather find a quiet line than a crowded park tend to like the Spanish Pyrenees. On Ski Baqueira, Spice calls Baqueira Beret an excellent destination for snowboarders: wide open pistes, reliable snow, a snow park and plenty of freeride terrain for those looking to venture beyond the groomed runs when conditions allow. The slopes stay uncrowded, which helps when you stop to strap in.

The Hotel Tuc Blanc is around eighty metres from the gondola, so you walk out in your boots. The hotel offers guided mornings, set up for skiers, so ask us before you book whether riders can join them. It is 7 nights, departing 14 Mar 2027 – 21 Mar 2027, from £1,449. Your host is Rob Thompson, and there are 17 places left places left.

Les Arcs, for a mixed group of skiers and riders

If you ride but expect most of the group to ski, Ski Les Arcs suits everyone at once. Spice rates it for all levels, beginners through to advanced, and snowboarding scores four out of five with a number of fun parks across the Paradiski area.

The Hotel Les Mélèzes is about seventy metres from the slopes, with a heated equipment room for your board, a sun terrace looking towards Mont Blanc, a sauna and hammam once a week. It is full board, so there is no hunting for dinner. It is 7 nights, departing 23 Jan 2027 – 30 Jan 2027, from £1,509, hosted by Lauren Fawkes, with 6 places left places left.

Tignes, for confident riders who want altitude

Ski Tignes is for people who already link their turns. Spice says plainly that Tignes is not really suited to those newer to skiing, and the same holds on a board. For confident riders, though, it is a big, high playground: Tignes and Val d'Isère linked together, long blue and red runs off the Grande Motte glacier, snowboarding rated four out of five and a number of fun parks.

The Hotel Le Diva is in Val Claret, with the nearest lift under three minutes' walk away. Breakfast and dinner are included, and the bar has a fireplace for the end of the day. It is 7 nights, departing 16 Jan 2027 – 23 Jan 2027, from £1,399, hosted by Jackie Whyte, with 6 places left places left.

Madonna, for tree runs in the Dolomites

Ski Madonna takes you to Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio in Italy, where the slopes are mostly tree-lined and run from long, wide and easy to challenging forest runs. Snowboarding rates four out of five and there is a snow park. Helmets are compulsory in Italy, so pack yours.

The family-run Hotel Pinzolo Dolomiti runs a shuttle to the lifts each morning and serves breakfast and dinner every day. It departs 23 Jan 2027 – 30 Jan 2027 for 7 nights, from £1,339, hosted by Jamie Morris. Places: Waitlist only.

Choosing between them

  • Parks first: Morzine, with Avoriaz across the valley.
  • Freeride and space: Baqueira in Spain.
  • Riding with skiers of every level: Les Arcs in France.
  • Confident riders who want height: Tignes.
  • Trees and Italian dinners: Madonna.

All five are on our ski and winter holidays page. If you also ski, or are deciding whether to, how a hosted ski week works when you travel on your own and ski holidays for over 50s travelling alone go into more detail. Our over 50s solo holidays page shows everything else we run.

Questions people ask

Will I be the only snowboarder in the group?

You might be one of a few, and you might be the only one. It matters less than people expect, because nobody rides or skis as one group all day. People pair off by level and meet for lunch and dinner, and the host makes sure the evenings include everyone.

Can I bring my own board?

Ask us when you enquire, and we will tell you how a board travels on that week, so there are no surprises at the airport. If you prefer to hire, tell us that too. Les Arcs has a heated equipment room at the hotel for boards and boots.

Can I book snowboard lessons?

Every resort on this page has ski schools, so ask us about lessons when you enquire. Tell us what level you ride at and we will point you to the right option for that resort. If you are new to a board, Morzine and Les Arcs are the gentler choices, as Spice rates both for beginners.

What if I have never been on a group holiday?

Most people book on their own, so you will not be the only one arriving without a friend. The host travels with the group all week and makes sure you meet everyone. With dinner in the hotel each night, you will soon have someone to ride or ski with the next day.

Talk to Rob before you book

If you want to know which week suits the way you ride, talk to Rob Thompson, who owns Spice Escapes and hosts the Baqueira week himself. Tell him your level, whether you are after parks, freeride or just good company, and how you feel about being the boarder among skiers, and he will tell you honestly where you would be happiest. Get in touch with the team with your questions, and we will come back to you with an answer.
